I just blew through the entire series in an hour. And you, my friend, blew my mind.
Most of the time, I ship Doctor/Romana. But every once in awhile, I call back to the magic of series 4, and how it's one long string of the best Doctor Who that has ever been produced (and let's face it, in a show that's going into its thirty-second season, that's saying rather a lot), and I remember watching it for the first time and thinking how you can visibly SEE the Doctor falling for Donna as the series progresses. I think a friend of mine put it best when she said, "The Doctor loved Donna more than the other companions. Not in quite the same way, but he loved her best." Their dynamic is so completely different from the Doctor's relationship with any other companion (except maybe Romana, who never hesitated to tell him when he was being a moron). This series so perfectly captures the essence of the things we saw and spins out little bits that we didn't see but would have liked... I love it.
And as much as I love Matt Smith as the Doctor (let's face it, he's awesome, a perfect blend of original!Baker and Troughton), I'm always going to be mourning the losses of Ten and the Doctor's greatest companion. It's fic like this that pacifies me and gives me the fix I need in order to get up and face What Comes Next with an open mind and a ready heart. Thank you.
Author's Response: Thank you very much for your kind comments. :)
Wow. Just wow. I'm speechless. Really, I am. This covered all that this shipping is about. Humour, friendship, love and being there for each other. Thanks for sharing this, I loved it. Very in character and you really do have talent. Ahh! I want Donna and Ten back, as much as I love Amy and Eleven.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I miss Donna and Ten, too. :)
