Crossing your own timeline is bad. Meeting past regenerations is irritating, meeting future regenerations is disquieting, and both are frequently disastrous. Jumping timestreams, however, is even worse. Meeting regenerations who never existed and most likely never will is a bit surreal, even for the Doctor.
